Abstract. Everyone know that there are already time-tested systems to store and keep sufficient energy for vehicle propulsion, such as different types of electrochemical batteries, capacitors and ultracapacitors, low or high speed flywheels, gas combustion cells such as hydrogen. However, there are also a series of effective solutions for this purpose that are waiting their turn to be useful, for example energy in the form of pneumatic and hydraulic pressure, superconducting magnetic energy storage, flow batteries, etc. with existing technologies for energy regeneration or conversion. The content includes research aspects, methods of comparing the energetic and ecological performance of alternative energy storage systems.
