Abstract

Te vehicles equipped with an electric power source have seen a rapid evolution regarding the power of the traction batteries, the power of which ultimately is closely linked to the vehicle's autonomy performance.  The electric autonomy, namely the distance covered by the vehicle after a single charge of the traction battery, occupies a very important position in the criteria for choosing an electric vehicle. Thus, the increasing of the autonomy by the increasing of the power of the traction batteries or by the development of some advanced methods of thr recuperation of the energy, represent a common objective of all manufacturers of the electric road vehicles. Starting from the previously indicated, the authors proposed and realized with the help of the simulation and the modeling platform AMESim, an algorithm through which it was simulated the exhaustion mode of the state of charge of the traction battery for an medium class electric vehicle at the simulated running specific to the WLTC test. The first part of the paper describes the main characteristics of the WLTC cycle as well as the specific technical data of the simulated electric vehicle. In the second part of the paper, there are detailed the results obtained by the repeated simulation until the total exhaustion of the state of charge of the traction battery. On the basis of the results obtained by the simulation, were made some conclusions regarding the simulated manner of the decrease of the state of charge of the traction battery and of the conditions under which this has been produced.
